Boston Must Add Tyreke Evans For A Deep Playoff Run

The Boston Celtics are 34-10.  They will face the New Orleans Pelicans tomorrow night.  They have a fast start on the season and the Celtics are hoping to bring a championship to the city.  They were close last year but lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals in 5 games.  There is one player who could help them beat the Cavaliers this year, Memphis Grizzlies’ shooting guard Tyreke Evans.

Evans is a scorer and a defender.  He scored 19.8 points per game so far this year.  He sets up plays and dishes to his teammates for easy baskets, notching 4.6 assists per game.   Evans would take pressure off of Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, and Jayson Tatum to score points.

On the defensive end, he is the defender the Celtics need.  Evans starts fast breaks with steals, averaging 1.1 per game.  He can rebound with 4.2 defensive rebounds per game.  Those rebounds don’t allow opponents second chance scoring opportunities.

Evans is the athlete the Celtics could use because of his skill set.  The Celtics need to make a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.  One reason Memphis might consider dealing him is Evans’ contract.  He is a free agent at the end of the year.

The Celtics are buyers at this point, looking to enhance their team for a title run.  Evans may be the missing piece.  The Celtics should trade for him but they shouldn’t give up too much.  It wouldn’t make sense for them to trade some of their top players such as Marcus Smart or Jayson Tatum.  The Celtics must decide if going after Evans is the right decision.  It seems he is the best shooting guard with an expiring contract who could help the Celtics in a deep playoff run.
